The next generation of colony counting has been reached with the introduction of the ProtoCOL 2 series. This ground breaking instrument takes the technology to a new level with its unique functionality and performance.

If you’re looking for increasing accuracy, speed and efficiency, the highly automated ProtoCOL 2 colony counter offers the ultimate solution. Designed for use in any microbiology laboratory testing food or beverage quality, ProtoCOL 2 will count colonies as small as 43 microns.

ProtoCOL 2 features an unique new lighting system which has been configured for exceptional illumination of all sample types. This technology, for which a patent has been applied, produces high definition images in colour ensuring that even the smallest colony can be seen and counted. The ergonomic design of ProtoCOL 2 features a touch screen for ease of control while the new software produces highly accurate results. The software automatically compensates for different coloured media and agar thickness, as well as artefacts such as bubbles or environmental debris to distinguish and count touching colonies and colonies of varying sizes.

ProtoCOL 2 can accurately count colonies on spread, pour or spiral plates along with a range of other application options. Results can be stored on the internal hard disk, copied to the integral DVD or automatically transferred to Excel or a LIMS system.

Data generated is GLP compliant and can be used to produce professional reports which are accepted by accreditation services such as the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS).
