            <title>Smasher food microbiology blender needs only 15 seconds per sample!</title>
            <link>http://www.aeschemunex.com/news,13-n/smasher-food-microbiology-blender-needs-only-15-seconds-per-sample,18.html</link>
            <description>SMASHER® Food Sample Blender needs only 15 seconds instead of 1 or 2 minutes! &#13;
Evaluation of Smasher® blending performance&#13;
Smasher®, the novel food sample paddle blender has been evaluated by the French agency for food safety in a comprehensive study on 150 samples with 2 main objectives:&#13;
 &#13;
1 - Test the contamination homogeneity of a chicken carcass in order to validate its use as a sample to make the comparative study between conventional and Smasher® blenders.&#13;
 &#13;
2 - Test the Smasher® at different blending durations vs. conventional blending device with homogeneously contaminated samples&#13;
 &#13;
The conclusion underlines Smasher's outstanding efficiency for the food sample microbial analysis preparation:&#13;
&quot; The results obtained from 150 samples for each condition showed that the Smasher® tested at 15 and 30 seconds blending times made it possible to obtain results similar to those of the conventional blender tested at a 60 second blending time. The statistical analyses made showed that the differences between the three blending times were not significant.&quot;&#13;

About Smasher® Food Sample Blender&#13;
It is a very long time since significant innovations have been introduced on paddle type lab blenders, but the introduction of the Smasher® has already been welcomed by many food microbiology laboratories. Thank to its patented SMASH effect, Smasher® first crushes the sample in record time and then automatically adjusts the speed to ensure a perfect homogenisation of the enrichment broth. In the case of difficult samples (hard or voluminous samples), Smasher® automatically resets the paddles position and retries powerfully several times. The operator doesn't need to reposition the blender bag.&#13;
A particular attention has been taken to guaranteeing an efficient cleaning and disinfection. It has a leak proof chamber with integrated waste drawer. The blender can be tilted it back at 45° if required for improved access. A new improvement allows the user to remove the paddles within 2 seconds without any tools! - Last but not least, Smasher® is about 20 times quieter than all other bag blenders available on the market.&#13;

&#13;
The advantage of using ScanRDI for producing and releasing products as sterile, is the reduction in the incubation time in the existing compendial method which is 14 days. The ability to detect in a matter of hours what takes 14 days is a substantial economic savings.&#13;
The financial benefit to using a rapid method for sterility testing is the release the products that would have been in inventory for a long period of time, up to 14 days. The reduction in inventory combined with the reduction in the risk associated with products being made or realized to be sterile for a period of 14 days provide the insurance that you can release products within that day; they haven't been produced the day before; to reduce the risk and increase the financial benefit of your company.&#13;
The ChemScan can be used for more than just sterility testing, it can be used for bioburden in the examination and enumeration of in-process investigations, or further things you may need to make good decisions about your process, in terms of getting a one day product enumeration.&quot; Gary Gresset,Alcon Laboratories, Inc.&#13;

Ron Smith, Alcon Laboratories, Inc - extract from PDA 2009 presentation&quot;When routinely used, The ScanRDI requires neither lenghty incubation times nor specific culture media. However, by combining requirements of the reference sterility test with an MPN enumeration protocol we were able to directly compare the two approaches to sterility testing. The ScanRDI method for detection of microbes was demonstrated to be statistically non-inferior to the reference test and numerically superior in that it had a likehood of detecting microbes that was significantly greater at all diltution levels. As such, the ScanRDI method is appropriate for use as rapid alternative to the growth-based sterility test Method&quot;&#13;

            <description>&amp;ldquo;Our microbiology laboratory has chosen the Smasher® blenders for their very low noise level, ensuring a comfortable use and avoiding us using earing protection.Our choice criteria were also the automatically adjustable mixing speed, allowinggood sample dispersion, and the easy cleaning and disinfection.Then the ergonomic and innovating design of the Smasher® was the last argumentwhich helped us to make our decision.&amp;rdquo;&#13;

            <title>Jean Brient Group optimises sample preparation with Dilumat S</title>
            <link>http://www.aeschemunex.com/news,13-n/jean-brient-group-optimises-sample-preparation-with-dilumat,7.html</link>
            <description>The Jean Brient group is present in the principal large supermarket chains (Système U, Leclerc, Carrefour, Casino, etc.) in France with its delicatessen and salted pork products. It employs over 250 people at its two sites in Ille-et-Vilaine (Antrain and Mordelles).&#13;
Mrs RuffienLaboratory ManagerJean Brient - Mordelles (France)&#13;
&quot;The Dilumat® S: saving time to optimize the organization of the laboratory&quot;&#13;
&quot;In our control laboratory, we analyse around 40 samples a day. They come from our various types of processed pork products, black puddings, roast pork, ham, pâté, etc. We also carry out environmental analyses. Previously, for the sample dilution stage, we used to use a manual method with ready-to-use glassbroth bottles.The disadvantages of this method lay in dealing with the glass: the possibility of breakage, the volume of the glass, and the cost of waste disposal. What's more, it took up a great deal of time, and the operation was very tedious (repetitive movements). Preparing the reagents (bottles) also used to be very time-consuming, compared with the ready-to-use bags, which also save us storage space and time spent putting them away.&#13;
We were won over to the Dilumat® S because of it is convenience, its performance (for example, the dilution accuracy), the time it saves us - and above all, the end cost of the analysis using the Dilumat® S was veryattractive. We found it very easy to get used to it - we were up and running on our own right from Day 1. We're very satisfied with the Dilumat® S: it takes up very little bench space, it's simple to use (we use it with Dilubag® diluent bags) and program, and its automatic arm makes it very user-friendly.&#13;
It saves us a very appreciable amount of time, as the fully automatic dilution lets us do &amp;lsquo;other things' at the same time. This has enabled us to reorganize things in the laboratory more efficiently. &quot;</description>
